Birthplace of Charles Daniel Juchau

Charles Daniel Juchau and younger sister, Martha, were both christened on the same day: 28 Sep 1823. Martha had been born a month before on August 29th, but Charles had been born 16 months earlier on 29 May 1822. These were the first two children born to Lewis Charles and Martha (Dugdale) Juchau. The father's occupation is indicated as having been fan maker. The family was living at Ironmonger Place.

So where was Ironmonger Place? Well, it is in the parish of Old Street St Luke (variously written as St. Luke, Old Street). This parish is in the county of Middlesex and was just north of the City of London. The map below shows Ironmonger Row (same as Ironmonger Place?) on Greenwood's Map of London from 1827. The street and its name are tiny--it runs north from Old Street just to the East of St. Luke's Church. It also shows another street named Ironmonger that goes East off of Ironmonger Row--perhaps this is Ironmonger Place? Lewis & Martha Juchau lived on Ironmonger Row for several more years. They were still living there when Philip was christened on 23 Jul 1826 and when the twins, William and Henry were christened on 8 Aug 1828. However, by the time the next set of twins were born, George and Camelia Charlotte, the family had moved, and this might have some bearing on the question of why they were born on 3 Jul 1830 but not christened until 6 Jan 1833.
